He is currently the editor-in-chief of the Belle magazine, which is referred to as a 'designers bible'. Neale lives in Surry Hills, an inner Sydney suburb, with his partner David and two dogs.
Neale has a strong position in the interior world and uses this to influence designers in modern and luxury designs. His magazine, Belle, has a large influence on designers, presenting modern interiors and new trends from Australia and around the world.
Neale has influenced designers to be innovative and passionate about their designs. The advice he gives to designers is: ''go with your gut, your heart and your soul." Neale’s advice is aimed at encouraging designers to go with what they feel is right and choose their designs based on their inner thoughts and desires. His quote is showing designers that good ideas come from the inner thoughts and feelings of the designer and not just the influence of the people. Good designers collate their ideas based on what they feels is right at the time. This relates to his designs as he refers them to eclectic and mismatched, meaning that he puts many different designs into one to create a unique piece.
Neale, being born in the 20th century and developing his designs in the 1980's - present, has been a part of the modern design movement. Modernism adopts the approach that designs use a limitless range of materials to create a new art form. Many different tools and technologies are now in use and provide new passages to decoration and interior design. Neale has helped to influence young designers going into the interior design world through his magazine Belle and his opinion and feedback on the television show ''The Block'.
